Our first service was on March 2nd, 2008. For over twenty years Saints from Joliet would travel to Chicago and Harvey to worship, praying one day a work would begun in the city of Joliet.
The mission of the Eastside Church of Christ is to live responsively to the biblical challenges of discipleship and evangelism, by restoring, confirming, and strengthening all humanity in Christ. The church seeks to become a biblical community of loving relationships devotedly following Christ, it's true model. Its members will to develop a commitment that demonstrates the life and teachings of Christ in ways that speak to humanity intellectually, spiritually, socially and emotionally. The church strives to provide "cutting edge" messages in non-dogmatic formats in keeping with its biblical mission. Eastside Church of Christ values everyone and is committed to becoming a beacon of light offering hope of spiritual redemption to all of God's creation.
To be the body of Christ that demonstrates Christ on a daily basis, we will strive to lift Jesus to attract others to the Body of Christ.
Our worship is our lifestyle! We worship God in all that we strive to do. Sunday is our gathering day to bring our worship together to offer our God the praise and adoration He deserves.
At Eastside our motto is simple, we are "LIFE CHANGING PEOPLE SERVING A LIFE CHANGING SAVIOR". We are Saints that draw near to God realizing we are always in search by Satan. Therefore we don't spend time destroying each other due to sin, but we encourage, motivate, forgive and press on to the mark. We are Christians under construction!
The Church
Matt. 16:18
Jesus built His church. Note that Jesus only built one church of which He is the Head (cf. Col. 1:18; 3:15; Eph. 1:22-23; 4:4; 5:23; 1 Cor. 12:13).
Acts 2:1-47
Christ's church was established, after Jesus' ascension into heaven, on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 1:4-11).
Rom. 16:16; 2 Cor. 8:1; Gal. 1:2
Christ's church is composed of many congregations.
Acts 2:38-47
Christ's church is composed of people who have repented and been baptized for the remission of their sins. The Lord adds those who are being saved to the church (cf. 1 Cor. 12:13).
Gal. 1:22; 1 Th. 2:14
Local churches are in Christ.
A local church is composed of people who are in Christ.
A person who has repented and been baptized for the remission of sins has been added to the church (Acts 2:38-47). He is in Christ (Gal. 6:3; Gal. 3:27). He has been baptized into the body (1 Cor. 12:13). Therefore, local churches are in Christ (Gal. 1:22; 1 Th. 2:14).
Eph. 5:23
Christ is the Savior of the body (i.e., the church). He purchased it with His own blood (Acts 20:28; cf. Eph. 5:25).
All spiritual blessings are in Christ (Eph. 1:3). Jesus is Head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all (Eph. 1:21-23).
The church is subject to Christ (Eph. 5:24).
Christ's body in the church (Eph. 1:22-23; Col. 1:18). There is one body (Eph. 4:4); therefore, there is one church of Christ (cf. Rom. 16:16).
1 Cor. 12:13
We are baptized into the body (cf. Rom. 6:3; Gal. 3:27 we are baptized into Christ thus into His body which is the church).
1 Tim. 3:15
The church is the house of God, the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
Eph. 2:19-22
The church is the household of God; the saints are built on the foundation of the apostles, prophets, and Jesus Christ. It grows into a holy temple in the Lord. It is built together for a habitation of God in the Spirit.
The church is not mortar and stone but the saints (Eph. 2:19).
